to, we wrote you on 3rd. July to the effect that,
although
we were of opinion that the Boat Shelter proposed to be
provided at Mongkokt sul was mich required, there were
nevertheless certain details of an engineering character
in connection with the contemplated works, which, in our
opinion, justified a consultation here with the author of
the design, as soon as arrangements could be made accord
ingly.
We therefore recommended that a cablegram should
be despatched to the Colony to the foregoing effect.
11. After subsequent correspondence it was arranged
that Mr. Boulton should meet us here, but owing to his
having travelled overland, by way of Siberia, he arrived
at an earlier date than we had anticipated, and therefore
we were not in a position to attend to this matter for
some little time after his arrival on 8th. September,
12.
Having now carefully considered the question, in
all its bearings, after being furnished by Mr. Boulton
with the information we required on certain points, we
have the honour to submit the following Report.
